Local Compact Champions

Promoting the Local Compact is key to ensure that the principles of partnership working are embedded within all levels of the sectors.

Warrington is proud to have 76 Compact Champions from all different levels within organisations in both the public sector and Third Sector. 

Compact Champion Briefing Sessions:

We are holding a series of Compact Champion briefing sessions, these are split into introductory sessions for anyone wishing to become a Compact Champion or who are new to the role and second sessions for those that wish to have a greater understanding of the Local Compact. The dates are:-

Introductory Sessions:

All sessions will take place in Room 6 at the Gateway, Sankey Street from 2pm until 3:30pm.

  • 22nd November 2011

Second Sessions:

All sessions will take place in Room 6 at the Gateway, Sankey Street from 2pm until 3:30pm. To attend one of these sessions you must have attended the introductory session first.

Please note these sessions will only take place with a minimum number of Champions attending and will be cancelled if the numbers of Champions attending are too low.

What Is A Compact Champion?

The role of a Compact Champion is to promote the value of partnership working between the third sector and the statutory sector, within their organisation, department or through various meetings and forums.

A Compact Champion is responsible for promoting and assisting in the implementation of the Working Together in Warrington Compact, ensuring it is understood and used within their individual organisation, department or sector and through local partnerships, forums and events.

Compact Champions can provide assistance if the Local Compact is not being followed by government, statutory or third sector organisations. Compact Champions play a crucial role in raising awareness and promoting the Local Compact in Warrington.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Ensure a good understanding of the content of the Local Compact and its Codes of Practice in order to achieve the best outcome for the people of Warrington.
  • Understand the Local Compact agreement as a reference for good practice.
  • Effectively promote the Local Compact within their own organisation and develop more effective relationships with partnership agencies.
  • Keep their organisation/department informed of Compact developments and provide information to promote it. Provide feedback and celebrate success stories.
  • Provide a contact point for advice, complaints and mediation on issues regarding the implementation of the Compact. Have a clear understanding of equality and diversity opportunities and its importance within Warrington.

Support for Compact Champions

Initial and ongoing training and support is provided by officers from the Third Sector Partnership Team and the Third Sector Policy Group and includes:

  • Regular e-updates on local and national issues affecting the Local Compact.
  • Regular meetings with other Local Compact Champions.
  • Twice annual Assembly to feedback concerns, issues and successes.
  • Online discussion forums/blogs, etc will be developed in the near future.

Local Compact Champions Pack

Compact Voice is very pleased to announce that they have  launched their Local Compact Champions Pack - for voluntary sector champions. This collection of tools for champions in local groups, is an editable PDF (ie you can fill in your own information and save it), and can help you sell your Compact, work together with other champions and sort out situations where things have gone wrong between partners.

Warrington has a range of Compact Champions working in both public sector and Third Sector organisations.  If you would like to contact a Champion with a Compact question or query please contact the Third Sector Partnership Team who will put you through to the Champion with the appropriate knowledge and / or experience.

How can I become a Compact Champion?

Contact the Third Sector Partnership Team.  If you are already a Champion and would like to recruit more Champions please take the recruitment form out and about with you and return to the Third Sector Partnership Team who will contact all new Champions!
